About Yan Sun Art Museum

Yan Sun Art Museum locates in a beautiful Art Deco style building downtown Zanesville. The Museum houses exhibitions, culture displays, lectures, and permanent collections. The Museum facilitates art and culture exchange programs by creating and sponsoring exhibitions of artworks created by artists from both Western and non-Western cultures.

In the Museum, you will have a chance to view and even collect award-winning artist Yan Sun’s paintings that represent a variety of subjects – ballet and music, landscape, marine, and local history.

Yan Sun Art Museum is open by appointment. The exhibitions and programs of Yan Sun Art Museum are open to the public. The Museum is open on most "First Fridays" for Zanesville downtown Art Walk.

Does Yan Sun Art Museum do studio visits?

Yes, by appointment. Visitors will have the chance to meet Yan Sun in his studio on the second floor, viewing his painting-in-progress and watching him painting.

Can I purchase Yan Sun's original paintings in the Museum?

Yes, visitors are welcome to view and collect their favorite paintings by Yan Sun at the Museum.

When can I visit Yan Sun Art Museum?

The Museum is open by appointment.
However, it normally opens to the public on the first Friday of a month during the Art Walk of Zanesville, 5:00pm - 8:00pm.

Do you charge a fee for visits, guided tours for groups, afternoon tea, and art lovers series?

Visits are welcome, free of charge.

Can my organization or company host a event at Yan Sun Art Museum?

Yes. Organizations and companies are welcome to cooperate with the Museum for special events.

About Yan Sun

Professor of Art and Director of Art Gallery of Muskingum University.

Yan Sun's paintings are shown in solo exhibitions in art centers, galleries, as well as museums such as Hayden Museum of American Art, Zanesville Museum of Art, Canton Museum of Art, and Museum of East Texas. And some paintings become part of the museums' permanent collection. His paintings are also selected in numerous regional, national, and international art exhibitions. Many of his paintings received awards.

Yan Sun is the recipient of The William Oxley Thompson Award for Excellence in Teaching (2001) and The William Rainey Harper Award for Outstanding Scholarship (2008) of Muskingum University.

To recognize the contributions of Yan Sun to the museum and its community, Zanesville Museum of Art named its “Diverse Cultures” Gallery the "Yan Sun Diverse Cultures Gallery."

Hayden Museum of American Art published Yan Sun’s paintings in books: Life • Time • SpaceYan Sun’ Paintings in 2004 and Yan Sun - Cross Culture . Cross Century in 2007. Introductory article, "Yan Sun – A True American Master," by George Korńye.

Yan Sun is a signature member of Oil Painters of America (OPA).
