Yan Sun Oil Paintings

Three Sides of Mona Lisa
Oil on canvas, 24" x 60"

Yan Sun’s paintings often evoke more audience involvement because they contain imaginary spaces, as well as lyrical and conceptual quality. Going beyond descriptions not only lets artists enrich their art language, but also allows the audience to extend their aesthetic experiences.

Yan Sun is attracted to the masterpieces in art history. According to Sun, "Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa is what inspired this painting. The three appearances of my model, a talented art student, are based on my curiosity and observations of something called subcultures on university campuses at the time."
