About Dr. Hong Yin
Oil Painting, Acrylic Painting, and Art History
Hong Yin has been Assistant Professor of Art at Muskingum University, teaching Western art history and graphic design. She received her Doctor and Master degrees at Texas A&M University-Commerce. She was named "Alumni Ambassador" of Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2006. She is the creative director of American Art & Culture Publication.
Born into an artistic family, Hong Yin was surrounded by the beauty of artworks from an early age. Her fondest childhood memories revolve around carrying her sketchbook to serene botanic gardens, capturing nature's wonders through her drawings.
After completing high school, Hong Yin started on a journey of formal painting education, attending painting classes before being accepted into a university where she majored in painting. It was during her time in graduate school, focusing on art history, that she experienced significant growth as an artist, expanding her horizons and improving her skills.
Hong Yin's artistic journey has led her to explore various art media and styles, but it is within the realms of oil and acrylic in a realistic style where her passion truly ignites. Her artwork embraces a diverse range of subjects, but her deep connection to her Tibetan heritage resonates strongly. The Tibetan people and their land hold a special place in her heart, serving as a constant source of inspiration.
Artist Statement
I believe that the infinite beauty of art is achieved through the artist’s creative imagination. When an artwork is empowered with universal appeal, it transmits the innermost significance. Through an artist’s personal language, audience is affected by artistic impact of forms and meanings. The ethereal feeling leads the audience toward an artistic atmosphere in which the noise of this world dims down at a great level.
Hong Yin's artworks have been displayed in museums and galleries both in USA and in China. Many artworks received awards, including one “Best of Show” and two “Third Place Award” of Southeast Ohio Watermedia Society Juried Exhibition.
