Printmaking by Marilyn Westgerdes

"Mother and Child"
Printmaking

Marilyn Westgerdes is an artist and art educator who favors exploration. In her opinion, artistic concepts shouldn’t be true to or depend on a predetermined media source. By embracing other genres, artists broaden their horizons, rather than narrow any existing ones. Therefore, two-dimensional concepts are compatible with three-dimensional concepts in Westgerdes’ art. She utilizes oils and acrylics; and she experiments with bronze, stone, and clay. A wide variety of media may be used during experimentation by Westgerdes, including bronze sculpture, stone sculpture, and ceramics; all of them are well worth trying. “Love” is often the theme of Marilyn Westgerdes.

Marilyn Westgerdes has been an art professor of Ohio University-Zanesville. She also served on the of Board of Directors of Zanesville Museum of Art and a true advocate of arts in the community.

Marilyn Westgerdes is one of the featured artists in the book: The Spirit of Art The Splendor of Life - Artistic Talents in Ohio
