Private Painting Classes for One or a Group of Two
If you hope to learn and improve your painting skills, take private painting classes taught by Prof. Yan Sun. The private classes are tailored to meet your special interests in subject matter (landscape or portrait), media (oil or acrylic painting) and techniques. The purpose of the private painting classes is to create a supportive learning environment for individuals and to facilitate artistic growth and development. Prof. Yan Sun will provide detailed instructions, helping you understand and apply oil or acrylic painting techniques to your own artwork. You can use preselected photo references provided or bring your own.The private classes will take place in Yan Sun Art Museum & Gallery. Basic painting materials and equipment are provided, including easel, 11”x14” canvas, brushes, paints, palette, brush washing container, and paper towels. You are welcome to bring your own supplies.

We will customize the class content to suit your specific needs and preferences. Duration per class: Three hours. Fee: $80 for one participant; $120 for a group of two.
Group Painting Classes with Yan Sun
2025 Fall Painting Classes with Professor Yan Sun
Yan Sun Art Museum & Gallery will be offering landscape painting classes in September 2025! Professor and recognized artist Yan Sun will be teaching the classes.
These classes will guide participants through the landscape painting process and include a live demonstration by Prof. Yan Sun using acrylic colors. With a special emphasis on the emotional power of color and light, Prof. Sun will share insights into composition, color contrast and harmony, texture, depth, and the expression of ideas. You may work from your own photo reference or use one pre-selected by Prof. Sun. Participants are also encouraged to bring unfinished paintings for guidance and feedback.
The classes are open to all skill levels, and we provide all necessary materials, including an 11”x14” canvas, a palette, acrylic colors and brushes, a brush washing container, and paper towels.
Location: 604 Main Street, Zanesville, OH
Class One: Saturday, October 4, 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM (Fee due by September 27)
Class Two: Saturday, October 11, 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM (Fee due by October 4)
Fee: $35 per participant. The fee is non-refundable but may be transferred to a friend or family member if you cannot attend.
Registration: Pre-registration is required, and seats are limited.
