In the moment of artistic creation, as in Recollection, what happens is the correspondence between nature and the soul. Or, the Unity of Nature and Humanity. The fireplace, the furniture, the decorations, and the windows of the old house tell people many stories about the owners. The viewers see in their vision how many generations had been living in this house and they see the same landscape through the windows. The man apparently is enjoying his quiet time of meditation and recollection.
